Specialist AFL Academy at Hammond Park Secondary College – Launching for Year 7 in 2026!


We are proud to introduce the Hammond Park Secondary College Specialist AFL Academy, a new and exciting opportunity for Year 7 students commencing in 2026. This program is designed to develop athletic talent, personal growth and leadership qualities of each student, reflecting our colleges’s core values of Excellence, Wellbeing, and Relationships. Participants will represent Hammond Park Secondary College with pride, embodying leadership, teamwork, and responsibility in both their sporting and academic lives.

Our AFL Academy delivers a holistic approach to learning. Students will engage in high-level skill development, game strategy and analysis, leadership and personal reflection supporting their journey to 'Excellence' both on and off the field. This balanced curriculum, blending practical sessions with classroom-based learning, fosters a deep understanding of the game while nurturing students’ physical and emotional Wellbeing.

A key focus of the Academy is to empower students with the tools to build strong, respectful Relationships—within their teams, with coaches and staff, and throughout the broader college community. We are especially proud to offer an inclusive program that supports female participation, with dedicated opportunities that mirror the success and growth of the AFLW.

Running from Year 7 through to Year 10, the AFL Academy equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to pursue further opportunities in football, extending beyond playing, while reinforcing the values that define our college community.

Through dynamic training sessions and regular game play, students build cardiovascular fitness, agility, strength, and endurance. INTAKE PROCESS - HPSC SPECIALIST AFL ACADEMY

Application Process

Acceptance into any of our Specialist AFL Academy is through the following selection process:

STEP 1: Trial Registration

Registrations for our Specialist AFL Academy will open in late Term 2. Registration is required to attend the trial. Registrations will close one week prior to the trial date and cannot be accepted after this time. As part of the registration, you will be required to provide your child’s last two (2) school reports.

STEP 2: Trial Participation

Trials are being held on the following date:

Wednesday, 30 July 2025

The week after the registration process closes, all applicants will be emailed further details including trial time, what to wear/bring and where to meet. The trials are conducted at Hammond Park Secondary College during which each students’ skills are assessed. All applicants are advised via email of the outcome of their trial session.

STEP 3: Offer of Placement

Students who are successful in their trial are advised via email and will be sent a Specialist AFL Academy 'Enrolment Pack', containing all relevant information regarding enrolment in the program. The pack includes uniform requirements, upcoming information sessions as well as a player contract. Students entering the program acknowledge the commitment joining a team entails and the behaviour and participation expectations of joining a Specialist AFL Academy.
